Bridge City House

The Bridge City House is named after its location in Bridge City, LA. The home is for a retired couple who want a tranquil space.  The new home is to be constructed on a plot of land that currently contains their existing home. Other than their existing detached garage, their current home will be demolished at the end of construction to make space for a large front lawn area. A heavy concrete plinth wraps the base of the building with a lighter exposed frame structure resting on top. The idea of this juxtaposition (lighter form to heavy base) is to clarify the homes secure relationship to the wet, rural landscape near the Mississippi River.
